Mobile has requested a spot on the '08 calendar. I was reluctant last year about it because of the travel time. If we do add them this would have to be the double points race. Maybe even do 2 races (time trial or dirt crit?) at Chickisabouge (sp?) Park. What do you guys think?

Two days of cross, duh!
Is Hurricane Brewing any good? Perhaps an informal social event on Sat evening might lure more people down for the weekend.
Yea, Two days of cross. Might be fun.
Not sure on the double points, but how about adding a team relay for bonus team points?
team relay? explain.
Team relay... just thought it might sound fun. To keep it simple, each team picks 5 riders, and each rider does one lap of the course before tagging the next rider on their team to go.
The "teams" can either be from formal clubs(gc cycling, ics-chain reaction, etc.) or an ad-hoc team of unaffiliated riders (so as to not exclude anyone). Maybe limit the teams to two A (1/2) riders and each team should have at least one C (4/5) racer? Require one female racer per team?
Don't know if this would work, or would comply with good ol' USA Cycling regs, but could be a fun event to end to the day. Plus add a little incentive for teams to travel down to Mobile (if they are interested in the team overall).
let's roll...double points...anything to add another cyclocross race to make BAMACROSS bigger than ever!
Give Finkle a little dinkle...Do it!
I vote two days of cross, and LOVE the idea of team relay. We could do it at night (in addition to the two 'official' ones) with mandatory beer-shots during transition, and not have it count (heavily) for points.
MobileVelo would love to host a race this season. Several of our members are very excited about competing in the series. Let us know what we can do. Email us at mobilevelo@yahoogroups.com Look forward to hearing from you.
I think double points for this race is a bad idea since it is so difficult for most of the state to get to. It really puts people who have to miss it at a disadvantage and discourages them from competing in the series at all. If there is only one race and it is on Sunday morning, that at least gives people time to get there on Saturday and get home to go to work on Monday. I learned from the GA series that the races held in the corner of the state are often not as well attended as those held closer to the largest population center which in GA is Atlanta, and I suppose in AL is Birmingham. Next year when your series is more established might be a better time to have a race in Mobile.
If you must have a double points race in Mobile, maybe it would attract more people if it were near the end of the season, after the weather has gotten cold in the rest of the state and after hurricane season has passed.
