Training

We are roughly 16 weeks away from the opening race of 2009. If you are like me (hopefully not) and this season has been a wash so far than this is the perfect time to initiate the kill plan for cross season. Four weeks of prep work (gym, running, mtb'ing, road) and then something like this cat has cooking http://cyclocrosstraining.blogspot.com/

The formulas are power based from what little I've read, but, the principles are very sound. It's hard to train for cross by doing road races or mt bike races as the efforts just aren't the same. In my opinion, the closest thing to a cx race is short track mt bike racing or a crit, so specific training is the only real way to receive the brutality needed for cross.

If you have good training info. or sites you would like to share, feel free to post them in the comments section.

Just want to confirm - is that race in Clanton on a Saturday (26th)? Not Sunday like the others (except Anniston). Thanks, Beth
